Khalsa Roots run youth activities for children from ages 4+ every fortnight on a Saturday at 3pm to 5.30 pm. Each session involves children learning about their Sikh Roots with a practical or creative session, and then an hour of sports and free play followed by Langar. Children are encouraged to participate fully and have opportunities to develop other skills such as presenting, I.T. leadership and to mix with other Sikh children outside of school. We also have regular fun activities which have included cooking lessons, horse riding, trips, yoga, Sikh musical instruments and participating in Eco Sikh Day annually. The children are encouraged to promote their school achievements and tell us about what interests them so we can provide an activity in future sessions.
Please bring your children to the Mata Sahib Kaur Hall on the dates below. If you have younger children you are more than welcome to stay with them. Older youth (13+) are welcome to bring their ideas and work with the younger children to bridge the gap and pass on their skills.....be it sports related, story-telling, help with display work or discussion groups to get them thinking and building confidence.
All our regular volunteers have a fully enhanced disclosure CRB check.
Welcome back!! Its 2015 and we have lots of ideas for this year. With your support and team-work we can create fun activities, learn about our Sikh roots and organise days out, to encourage our children to develop new skills, gain confidence outside of school and work together with others.
