Why was Guru Arjun Dev Ji executed?

Guru Arjun Dev Ji was martyred by an oppressive Mogul dictatorship who practiced intolerance and caused suffering to innocent people. Guru Ji was tortured over 5 days, but even in the face of such pain he instructed his followers to understand the message of compassion, love, dedication, hard work, worship of one God and the commitment to peace and harmony for all the people of the world.

The martyrdom of Guru Ji changed the entire character of Sikhism radically from a passive people to courageous saint soldiers set to defend the rights of all people of all beliefs against tyranny and suppression.

Sikh’s remember the suffering of that took place by our Guru Ji, and at this time every year extend our practice of charity and sharing with the community irrespective of race, colour or creed.

In this float there were several Sewadars performing Kirtan and attending to the Guru. The Sangat walked behind Guru Ji and the Panj Piaare singing shabads and enjoying the glorious day. Lots of food and drinks were served all along the route and in Market Square
