Khalsa Roots is a youth club for children of all ages which runs fun filled sessions every fortnight on a Saturday at 3pm to 5.30 pm. Each session involves children learning about Sikhi and their Sikh Roots followed by a practical session and then an hour of sports, free play and child led interactions. Children are encouraged to participate fully rather than being spoon fed and have opportunities to develop other skills such as presenting, I.T. and to mix with other sikh  children like themselves which they may not otherwise have the opportunity to do. We also have regular fun activities which have included cooking lessons, horse riding, trip to a theme park, introduction to yoga and sikh musical instruments and participating in Sikh Environment Day.  There are a whole lot more new opportunities coming to widen the children's experiences.

Gift Aid Donations

E-mail Print PDF

Gift Aid increases the value of donations to the Gurdwara. For example if you give a £10 donation, using Gift Aid this becomes worth £12.50.  (For donations between 6 April 2008 and 5 April 2011 the Gurdwara will also get a separate government supplement of three pence on every pound you have given).

Periodically a Gift Aid claim is put into the HMRC to reclaim the tax which has been paid by the individual donors. In order to make a Gift Aid donation you need to make a Gift Aid declaration

Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara Hitchin is a registered Charity and this additional income will help contribute towards any one of the following activities:

  • Keertan / Parchaar
  • Youth Activity - including Sikhi Camps ,Gatka, Sikhi Classes and Punjabi School
  • Building Fund
  • Langar

The golak is another opportunity for the Gurdwara to increase its reclaim of tax, over the past few years the average annual golak income has been around £45K, which means the Gurdwara is potentially missing out on £12,500 annually in gift aid.  Gift Aid envelopes in the lobby and next to the golak should be used where possible by completing a few simple details and placing the donations in the golak to identify the individual donors.

For any queries regarding gift aid please see one of the management committee.  Many thanks for your on going support.
